If a planet detects that its Friendly Code has been changed as the result of the Super Spy mission, with the Super Spy Deluxe advantage enabled, and it has more than 30 defense posts, it can burn up 10 of the defense posts to emit an ion pulse that will decloak all cloaked ships in orbit.
A planet normally has about a 20% chance of pulling this off, but if its Friendly Code is changed to mfX , where X represents any character, then it will always trigger the pulse as long as the required number of defense posts are present. There is no way for the planet owner to cause this to happen or turn it off. This takes place when the Super Spy mission changes the planet's Friendly Code, which is before movement and combat.
The following messages will be generated when an Ion Pulse is emitted:
Distress CALL! We have found spies on the planet. They have CHANGED the planet's friendly code! The code is now: mkt
Using defense outposts to produce an ion discharge overload to decloak all ships in orbit. Ten outposts sacrificed.
Our spy team has changed the planetary friendly code on: Planet 710 ID#298 to mkt
Enemy defense outposts are using an ion discharge overload to decloak all ships in orbit!
They sacrificed ten outposts.
