Clone Ships

Advantages —> Clone Ships
This advantage allows players to
clone captured starships for twice the cost as normal before the starship limit is reached.
The following conditions must be met to initiate a cloning:
-
The starship to be cloned must be in the orbit of a starbase owned by the same player.
-
The starship to be cloned must have the Friendly Code
CLN.
-
The owning player's race must not be able to build this hull type independently.
-
The starbase must have tech levels at or above the features of the ship.
-
The starbase must have enough resources to purchase all the parts of the ship at twice the normal number of MegaCredits.
-
The mineral cost for cloned starships is as normal.
-
Normal cloning will stop working when the Starship Limit is reached. It will only start up again if enough starships are destroyed in a turn to drop the starship count to below the Starship Limit after normal builds have been done.
Advanced Cloning is available in
Campaign games to remove this limitation.
When a starship is cloned, its speed is reset to Warp 0. Because of this, and the fact that starship cloning occurs before starship movement, a cloned starship can't move under its own power on the same turn that it was cloned. It can, however, be towed that turn.
This advantage is enabled by default, but can be disabled.
