There are the three starships that are able to transform a planet's climate just by orbiting it. Each starship will change the temperature by 1°W each turn.

Bohemian Class Survey Ship: Will make a planet warmer until a temperature of 50°W is reached.
Eros Class Research Vessel: Will make a planet cooler until a temperature of 50°W is reached.
Onyx Class Frigate: Will make a planet hotter until a temperature of 100°W is reached, at which point the planet will be a hot boiling pool of rock and desert.

Starships which are transforming the climate of a planet will report the temperature of the surface of the planet to the starship's controller each turn.

This ability is automatically activated when the starship is in orbit of a planet with a temperature within the range that the ship can modify. No special Mission or Friendly Code is required to activate this ability.
