The Sunburst Device starship ability allows a starship to increase the temperature of a planet from a distance. This ability is currently only available on the Pyrite Class Frigate.
When this ability is activated by setting a planet or warpwell as a waypoint, the starship will deliver 200 units of terraforming energy toward the planet at the waypoint. Every light-year of distance to the target planet will disipate 1 unit of energy. For every 100 units of terraforming energy that arrives at a planet in a turn, the temperature of that planet will increase by 1°W, to a maximum of 100°W.
Multiple starships with Sunburst Devices may target a planet in a turn. If this happens, the amount of terraforming energy is added together before the temperature increase is determined.
