When the game options extraships or centerextraships are in use, additional starships will be created. These staships will be evenly distributed among the initial planets. These options may only be used in Private games and the centerextraships option may only be used if the Homeworld locations are set to One vs. Circle .
All starships created will have Transwarp engines. All starships that can have beam weapons will have a full complement of Blasters. All starships that can have torpedo tubes will have a full complement of Mark 4 Photons, and 30 torpedoes, as limited by the starship's cargo capacity. All starships that can have fighters will have 30.
The new starships will be randomly selected from a list of five starships. The lists are different for each race, and are in the table below. The Horwasp don't receive any additional statships.
