Rock Attacks

Dashboard —> Advantages —> Rock Attacks

The Horwasp are presently under development, which means they will frequently be receiving enhancements and bugfixes. Because of this, the documentation will also be frequently changing, and may be slightly behind development. This means that at any given time the documentation might not be complete, and could contain errors. In addition, there are probably interactions that aren't yet known.

If any errors are noticed in this document, please inform one of the Planets.nu Editors.

Horwasp planets can launch artificial asteroids at enemy worlds causing great damage.

A rock attack is initiated by launching a mineral rock (Duranium Rock, Tritanium Rock or Molybdenum Rock) at an enemy planet. When the rock hits, the planet will receive damage as though a Large Meteor had hit. The damage can be increased by launching the rock at maximum mass and maximum speed (Warp-9). The damage can be further increased by routing the rock through an Accelerator pod.

It should be noted that a rock launched at a planet owned by the same player, or the planet of a teammate, will cause no damage.

This advantage is enabled by default, and can not be disabled. No special Mission or Friendly Code is required to trigger this advantage.

This advantage is worth 20 advantage points and is only available to The Horwasp Plague.

Technical Details

The impact of a rock on a planet is similar to the impact of a Large Meteor. The meteor equivalent mass may be calculated as follows:

CARGO_MASS * WARP_SPEED * ACCELERATION_FACTOR

The ACCELERATION_FACTOR is 1 for a rock moving at normal speed and 1.5 for a rock that has been accelerated.

A maximum mass rock at Warp-9, after it has been accelerated, has a 50% chance of killing all colonist life on a planet.
