Mite

Starships with the Mite ability are designed to intercept enemy starships and do something to them. What they do depends on the color of the Mite, as follows:

• Red Mite - Deliver 1 minehit of damage to target starship.
• Blue Mite - Deliver 27 points of infection to target starship.
• Green Mite - Deliver a tracker to the target starship. The tracker will scan space for 100 light-years around the target starship and report that information to the controlling Horwasp, regardless of the distance. Only the destruction of the target starship will remove the tracker.

When a Mite is launched, it needs to have a starship as its target. The Mite will attempt to intercept the target starship to deliver its payload. The number of turns the Mite will pursue the target starship depends on the speed the Mite is launched at, as follows:

• Warp 9 - 1 turn
• Warp 7 - 10 turns
• Warp 6 - 10 turns
• Warp 3 - Unlimited

If a Mite successfully intercepts its target, the payload is immediately delivered and the Mite self-destructs. No combat occurs.

A mite may be stopped by destroying it before it reaches the target starship.

No special Mission or Friendly Code is required to activate this ability.
